Utilizing the classic quintet line-up, tenor player Hank Mobley counter-balances Hub’s horn on the front-line while McCoy Tyner on piano, Paul Chamber! s’ bass and Philly Joe Jones’ drumming round it out. Blue Note’s hall-of-fame stable of trumpeters - Morgan, Byrd, Dorham and Hubbard - were astute all, to swap compositions and arrangements; two of Dorham’s finest were chosen for these 1960 dates in Karioka and Asiatic Race (aka Lotus Blossom).
