Blue Note
BN 4082-MONO-200G
$33.00 MSRP

Released July 14, 2009
Listed in Jazz

Horace Parlan had a great knack in selecting musicians for his Blue Note sessions; some regular collaborators, other times - mix and match. This June 1961 date is no exception. The set showcases a fine balance of hard bop and soul-jazz with just the right amount of blues thrown in. Leading the charge in Booker Ervin’s tenor and guitarist Grant Green. Filing it out are drummer Al Harewood, George Tucker’s bass as well as Parlan’s pianisitics. Six new tunes including charts by Parlan (title tune), Ervin (The Book’s Beat), Tucker (Fugee), Green (The Other Part of Town) plus Light Blue by Stanley Turrentine, allow everyone plenty of time and space to have their say and then bring it home. Another installment in the Classic Blue Note Signature LP Series cut from the original Mono analog master tapes using Classic Records’ ALL TUBE pure MONO cutting system by Bernie “Be-Bop” Grundman.
