Beethoven Symphonies Everest HDAD 2032-PLUS $179.00 MSRP Scheduled to be released December 31, 2010 Listed in Classical The Everest Recordings of the entire Beethoven cycle with Krips conducting the LSO are considered by many music critics to be utterly superb. Using the now famous 35 MM recording decks at Walthamstow Assembly Hall in 1959, Bert Whyte and team Everest captured in amazing detail, all the nuance and complexity of the Beethoven symphonies. Using the original 35MM tapes to do the transfers reveals how truly wonderful both the performances and the recordings compare with other efforts by major labels of the same era. The HDAD+ set includes all nine symphonies spread over 10 discs and includes a bonus of the Egmont Overture which is also included on the disc with the fifth symphony. The tapes were mastered and transferred by Scott Sedillo at Bernie Grundman Mastering at the same time the LP were being cut at the hands of Bernie "The Wizard" Grundman assisted by Len Horowitz running the 35MM tape machine. All Symphonies are presented in 2 and 3 channels on the DVD discs and in stereo on the bonus CD for each performance. The 20 discs (10's DVD and 10 CD's) come in a beautiful box that includes the original art from the extremely rare boxed set from Everest along with a 24 page reproduction of the original deluxe edition booklet. This is an absolute must for serious Beethoven lovers!
